Once you’ve chosen the right sign, the next step is making sure it is installed securely and positioned where it can be easily seen. The best fixing method will depend on the type of surface, the location of the sign, and whether you need a temporary or permanent installation.

Here are three common options to consider.

Option 1: Mounting a Sign on Glass with Suction Cups

For smooth glass surfaces, suction cups provide a convenient installation method without the need to drill into the glass.

What You’ll Need

• Suitable suction cups
• A clean, soft cloth

How to Install

1. Prepare the glass
Start with a clean surface. Wipe the glass thoroughly to remove dust, fingerprints, grease and other residue. Allow it to dry before attaching the sign.

2. Fit the suction cups
Place the suction cups through the designated holes in the sign and make sure they are properly seated.

3. Position the sign
Hold the sign against the glass and position it where you want it displayed. Press each suction cup firmly against the glass to create a secure seal.

4. Check the finished position
Step back and check that the sign is straight and sitting at the desired height. Make any adjustments before completing the installation.

Tip: Suction cups work best on smooth, clean, non-porous surfaces. Always consider the location and weather conditions when using them outdoors.

Option 2: Fixing Your Sign with Screws

For a more permanent installation, screws can be used to attach your sign directly to a suitable wall, fence, post or other solid surface.

How to Install

1. Choose your position

Option 3: Installing with Heavy-Duty Double-Sided Tape

Adhesive mounting tape can be useful when you want a clean installation without visible screws or drilling. It is particularly suited to appropriate smooth, clean surfaces.

If the sign will be installed outside, select a high-quality mounting tape specifically designed for outdoor conditions.

• Scissors or a sharp cutting tool

How to Install

1. Clean the mounting area
Remove dust, dirt, grease and moisture from the surface. A clean, dry surface is important for achieving a strong adhesive bond.

2. Apply the tape to the sign
Cut the tape into suitable lengths and place it across the back of the sign. Position the strips so the sign has good support across its surface, paying particular attention to the edges.

3. Position carefully
Remove the tape backing and carefully place the sign onto the mounting surface. Take your time with this step, as repositioning may not be possible once the adhesive makes contact.

4. Apply pressure
Press firmly across the sign, particularly around the areas where the tape has been applied.

5. Inspect the edges
Check the sign from all sides to make sure it is sitting flat and that there are no loose or lifting sections.

Getting the Installation Right

A secure sign starts with choosing the appropriate fixing method for the situation. Before installation, consider the surface, sign size and weight, indoor or outdoor location, and exposure to wind and weather.

For outdoor signs, inspect the mounting points from time to time, particularly after periods of strong wind or severe weather.
